Hello everyone! I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and spent as much time as you could with family and friends.

We have been busy little elves at Edgewood Convalescent Home getting the facility ready for the residents to have a wonderful holiday season. Family and friends are welcome and encouraged to visit with their loved ones at ECH. Don’t forget to take some time to check out the many new decorations we have this year. To start off the month residents will be reminiscing about decorating for the holidays and the many different decorations that go up during the month of December. Not only do we celebrate Christmas, but we will also be discussing the celebrations of Hanukkah and Kwanzaa. More holiday discussions include talking about family traditions during the holiday season and the sharing of memories during their younger years.

Staff will be continuing the tradition of picking a resident and getting them a gift for Christmas that will be shared during our special Christmas lunch on Thursday, December 23rd. We also have traditions of having a hot cocoa bar to share with residents and staff. Residents will be making and sending Christmas cards to a family member of their choice as well as baking and decorating sugar cookies for all to enjoy. This year residents have decided to start a new tradition of stringing popcorn to put on their stocking tree.

Residents will use their creative sides by making elves, creating snowmen out of paper, making a wrapped wreath ornament from a mason jar, and using watercolors to create snowflakes. To wrap up the busy month of December, we will be celebrating the end of 2021 and ringing in the new year following bingo on December 31st.

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
