Hello Everyone!

The year 2022 has brought a lot of changes so far. One exciting change for myself was the move to working at Lincolnwood Assisted Living. I am excited to serve Lincolnwood as the new Activity Director. Hopefully, the tenants here are as excited as I am!

A little snippet about me, I grew up on the family farm outside of Strawberry Point and attended Starmont CSD. After that I attended University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, Iowa. There I majored in Mathematics Teaching to become a teacher, so I substitute at the local school on occasion as well. I am married to my husband, Luke, and together we have two beautiful girls, Colleen (6) and Karly (almost 2). We live right here in Edgewood and Colleen attends Ed-Co Elementary in Colesburg. Luke and I are both active leaders of the Lodomillo Leaders 4H Club and are rabbit project superintendents for both Clayton and Delaware counties. Luke and I raise rabbits and have a small beef herd.

At Lincolnwood we are active as we can be. We have four activities a day for tenants to partake in at their discretion. Every morning we have independent Coffee & Chat, tenants have coffee along with a bread option. In February, we started themed days instead of just coffee and toast every morning. So, we have Muffin Mondays, Toast-y Tuesdays, Waffling Wednesdays, and Donuts on Fridays; Thursday, Saturday and Sunday is primarily toast or sometimes other treats like donuts or bagels, or muffins are available. Then there is a 10 am activity and after lunch daily we have exercise or a physical type of game, followed up by a 2 pm activity.

New to our calendars we have started a 10-week Bible Study with Pastor Kathy from Trinity Methodist Church called “The Bad Girls of the Bible”. The ladies have loved that so far. We also invited Pastor Margret from One In Faith Parishes to do a Lutheran Service once a month.

Cathy Shaw from the Edgewood Public Library is helping to start a book club. We are going to have large print, and audio versions available of the books we read. Part of the book club will incorporate guest speakers and activities that go along with the book, this will help make the books come to life for us!
