Hello everyone, I hope you all have had a great summer!

We are now being the month of August. Our garden is growing here at ECH and soon we will have tomatoes, cucumbers, and watermelon, and cantaloupe.

To start off August, the Squire’s will be coming and along with them will be their dogs. Stanley the Golden Retriever, Luna the St. Bernard, and their newest addition Bailey an Australian Shepherd. The residents sure love the visits of animals.

This month we will be having a couple of cooking demonstrations. I, Destiny will be baking with the residents, and we will be making Cheesecake Coffee Carmel Cookies, and Chef Kevin will be back again, and we will be having a cook out. August 10th is National S’mores Day. We will be making and enjoying s’mores indoors.

The residents will be doing a few crafts this month. We will be making a wiggle eye loin craft, a sailboat out of craft sticks and cardstock, painting a Highland Cow, making roses out of coiled pipe cleaners, creating a yarn monster bag, and putting together their very own aquariums.

The residents continue to have twice a week exercise programs which also includes an activity of exercise with the program. This includes horseshoes, football toss, music pong balls, ring toss, ball toss, Toss Across, and parachute just to name a few. The residents have church services throughout the month with the different denominations.

We are looking for volunteers to help with activities. If you are interested or know of someone who is interested please contact me, Destiny, at the Edgewood Convalescent Home at 563-928-6461.
