Activities in Action
Hello everyone, my name is Destiny Ortman, the Recreation Program Director here at the Edgewood Convalescent Home. You may have seen me around here before as I was previously a Certified Nurse’s Aide working on the floor for the past 5 years.
I grew up here in Edgewood and currently live here as of today. I am a mother to three grown children Paige 26, Trace 24, and Allison 22. I also have a granddaughter and one on the way. In my free time I like to spend with family and friends. I like to go shopping, camping, eating at my favorite restaurants, going on long walks, and just sitting at home watching movies.
I look forward to continuing building relationships with the residents and providing new and improved activities for the residents to enjoy.
During the month of August, we will be incorporating activities with food such as baking peanut butter cocoa bars, husking sweet corn to eat, and enjoying some coffee and donuts while discussing a day at the lake. We will start to do a monthly Happy Hour with both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages along with some type of snack. The residents will be making birthday cards for residents and staff who have a birthday in August. Since August is considered the “Dog Days of Summer”, we will be playing a new game called dog bingo. I will be also be incorporating a new game called what’s in the bag. For this game residents will try to guess what is inside a brown paper bag by feeling the bag and answering clues that are given to them.
Thank you!
Destiny Ortman, Recreation Program Director
