Hello and happy February to you all! What a busy month February is going to be. Did you know that there are a lot of things to celebrate in the month of February? We will be learning about Punxsutawney Phil and the history of Groundhog’s Day. What do you think, will we have six more weeks of winter or will Phil stay out and play and we will have an early spring? We will be making bird feeders for the winter birds that stay here and not go south for the winter. February 5th is wear red day for Heart Health Month. On this day staff and residents are asked to wear red and residents will be painting red hearts and discussing heart health. I Hope everyone is doing their best to stay healthy this year.

There will be a lot of heart activities going on this month including a special Valentine BINGO. Be on the lookout for some postcards that will be coming in the mail from your very special valentine. We will be celebrating Valentine’s Day by having a little party with some drinks and snacks. During our party we will also have a Valentine photo booth so being watching for pictures on our Facebook page. February is also Black History Month. We will be learning about historical places of Civil Rights Movements and about Harriet Tubman’s role with the underground railroad. March 16th, we celebrate Mardi Gras with some mask making and listening to some Mardi Gras music. Ash Wednesday falls on February 17th this year. Catholic mass will be provided for all our Catholic residents. What will you be giving up for Lent?

To end the month residents will be celebrating National Margarita Day by enjoying some tasty margaritas during happy hour. In honor of Pistachio Day, the residents will be whipping up a batch of watergate salad. Hope everyone enjoys the month of February as much as we will!
